Hi everyone. I’m Harry, and it’s been 166 days since my last flight.

A few of you have asked me:

“What actually IS Tracks?”

You get that we want to reduce emissions linked to flying, but you don’t get how we’re going to incentivise people to take more trains.

So here it is…

What are airmiles?

You will have heard of Flying Blue & Avios - the loyalty programs of Air France-KLM and British Airways.

When you book a flight with Air France, you get rewarded with Flying Blue miles. You can also earn points through car rental, or by signing up to an American Express credit card (€16/month).

Where can you spend them?

Flying Blue points are usually redeemed for flights on Air France-KLM services. That’s what they were designed to do: build loyalty to the airline and to sell empty seats. There is also a Flying Blue store, but these products have the worst point conversions, so it’s not worth it from a financial perspective.

Recently, Flying Blue made it possible to convert your Miles into Accor Live Limitless points, so you can book hotels and experiences through the Accor Group. This is pretty cool.

But if you don’t want to use your points on a specific hotel chain or airline, you’re a bit stuck!

Enter Tracks.

We believe that people should be rewarded for making responsible buying decisions, so we will reward people with points for buying:

Train tickets, including international travel (no planes)
Sustainable clothing (e.g. Sézane)
Anti-waste or second-hand goods (e.g. Too Good To Go Vinted)

You will also be able to earn points with everyday purchases (e.g. groceries).
