🫰 Eurostar Snap is BACK

Get cheaper Eurostars with this link 🔗 Meanwhile, is a frequent flyer tax on the way?

Hi everyone. I’m Harry, and it’s been 159 days since my last flight.

With the recent news, I’ll keep that streak going a little while longer! Here’s what I’ve got for you this week:

  • A frequent flyers tax could help cut air passengers by 26%

  • Eurostar Snap is BACK

  • Paris-Berlin high speed tickets now on sale

Taxing ‘binge flyers’ could raise €64 billion a year.

A progressive tax on frequent flyers could reduce aviation emissions by 21% in Europe, according to the New Economics Foundation.

The levy proposed in a report by Stay Grounded, in short:

  • One tax-free return flight per year

  • A €100 levy for every extra flight

  • 72% of people would not be affected (not flying or flying once per year)

It means that working class families, and others that don’t travel that often, won’t be penalised, but the biggest offenders will be.

With the expansion of the high-speed rail network growing by the day, it will become so much cheaper to use the train.

And when Tracks launches, trains will only get cheaper.

Return of the SNAP.

Eurostar Snap is back!

6-7 years ago, I was obsessed with Eurostar Snap to book my trains from Paris to London. It disappeared in 2019, but made a comeback yesterday. Here’s how it works:

  • Choose the date you want to travel

  • Eurostar will book you on one of the trains that day

  • 48h before departure, Eurostar will let you know what train you're on

Two limitations:

  1. You used to be able to choose whether you wanted to travel in the morning or afternoon, but now it seems they pick any train during the day, making it more difficult to plan.

  2. Tickets can only be booked within 14 days of your travel date

It’s a bit less flexible than it was, but if you want the cheapest tickets this is definitely the way to go.
